The Beginning

Back in 2018, I was contacted by Bang Bang, a Polish punk rock band, to redesign their logo. My proposal didn’t make it to production, but the concept stayed with me. I’d always liked the energy behind it — raw, loud, and unapologetic — the kind of visual language that perfectly matches the attitude of punk music.

Years later, I revisited the idea purely for creative practice. I wanted to see what would happen if I pushed it further, stripped it down, and built a cohesive identity around the original spark.

The Concept

The result became a full design experiment — a visual identity that embodies the raw pulse of punk culture through strong geometry, texture, and contrast. The logo, bold and irregular, reflects both rebellion and rhythm. It’s loud but controlled — much like the music itself.

The graphic motif, a fragmented lightning bolt, became the visual anchor across applications. It symbolises sound, energy, and defiance — a graphic that cuts through the noise. The aesthetic is intentionally imperfect: distressed textures, stark monochrome, and rough typographic tension.

I developed mock-ups to show how such an identity could extend into a complete brand system for a band — from a vinyl record sleeve and merch apparel to promotional materials. Together, they create a consistent visual universe that feels authentic to the genre while remaining adaptable to modern contexts.

The Reflection

Though the project began as an unused commission, it evolved into a personal exploration of how design can capture the spirit of music — not just represent it visually, but translate its energy into form.

For me, this project is a reminder that creative ideas don’t expire; sometimes they just need time to find their true shape. What started as a rejected logo became an exercise in freedom — an opportunity to rediscover why I love the creative process itself: to explore, experiment, and let design play loud.
